Why God became man.

I can come up with 7 reasons God became man, with a bit of help.
1) To confine God’s promises. The stage is set at the fall of Adam and Eve in Gen. 3:15, where it was promised to crush Satan and covered them with the shedding of blood so they could be covered.
Isaiah 9:6 says Unto us a child is born , unto us a son is given…
The O.T. Sacrifices point to a saviour coming who would not cover our sins like the sacrifices but would totally deal with sin by His death and shedding of His precious blood.
2) in the O.T. God was revealed as the Creator and Governor, but Jesus coming revealed God as the Father. He said to Philip … he that hath seen me hath seen the Father. Also the Father knows what things you need before you ask. And because of Him we are God’s children.
3) He came in order to become qualified as our faithful High Priest. The O.T. High Priest had to go through all the cleansing to enter the Holy of Holies, but not our Saviour. Yet must did not see Him in that light, they wanted to crucify Him.
4) He came to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself (Heb. 9:26b) And to give His life a ransom for many (Mark 10:45) He needed to become a man in order to die for the sins of mankind. He tasted death death for all so we with our free will would not taste death but be taken right to His side.
5) He came to destroy the works of the devil (1John 3:8) Satan has no longer a hold on us, 4 and 5 are so closely connected. We have sin and the sin nature brought upon us by the deceits of Satan. He has already lost and will be cast into the lake of fire. (Rev 20:10)
6) He came to give us an example of a Holy Life. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly of heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls” Mat. 11:19. Walk even as He walked. 1 John 2:19 Also leaving you an example, that ye should follow His steps found in 1 Peter 2:21
The most powerful incentive to holiness is not by word, but by example. Christ taught us how to behave toward the Great I Am !!
7) Also to prepare us for His return and all that goes with those events. We are saved from the penalty and guilt of sin the moment we accept Christ as our Saviour; we also are being saved from the power of sin as Christ intercedes for us as we yield to Him. On the cross He purchased this whole universe , but is holding till that great and glorious when we will behold our awesome Jehovah and His new new universe.
